Worship
Communal worship is the foundation of Christian faith.

Eucharistic
Adoration
Come and Sit Awhile
Every Friday our parish offers Eucharistic Adoration
following the 8:30 am Mass until noon in the Children’s
Chapel. This beautiful tradition offers children and adults
the opportunity to spend some precious time with our Lord as
the consecrated Host, Eucharist, is placed in a Monstrance
on the altar. The Montrance is a cross with a glass opening
in the center that allows us to see the consecrated Host as
we pray. Come and sit awhile and pray. As Catholics, we are
blessed with the constant Eucharistic presence of Christ in
the tabernacle, located in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The
Blessed Sacrament Chapel is in the front of the church to
the right of the altar.
Living Rosary
Each participant holds one of the beads of a
huge rosary in their hand and they become a “Living Rosary”
with each other. What a wonderful and peaceful way to pray
to Our Blessed Mother.
All parishioners are invited and encouraged
to come and participate in this prayerful celebration. For
more information, please call the Adult Education Office at
724.776.1357. Check the bulletin for dates and time.
Divine Mercy Chaplet
The Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed every
Friday at 12:00 pm during Eucharistic Adoration. Come and
join us in prayer as we call upon our Merciful Savior.
Funeral Home Service
Our parish is honored to offer funeral home
services for families during visitation times at the funeral
home. The services consists of prayer, music, scripture
readings, and an opportunity for all present to remember the
deceased.
Intercessory Prayer
Saturday from 7:00 - 8:00 pm in church
Let Us Pray
Every Monday, except during Lent, we gather to pray
together as a parish from our rich deposit of traditional
(old and new) prayers. We pray the Living Rosary. Each
participant holds a bead of the rosary and prays the prayer
out loud. Litanies, Liturgy of the Hours, Novenas, or
Eucharistic Adoration. On the fourth Monday we participate in the Taizé
prayer and song.
Prayer Group
Meets every Thursday at 7:45 pm in the Chapel.
Rosary/Novena
Every Thursday at 6:30 pm in the church
Weekly Centering Prayer
The objective of Centering Prayer, historically
called the Prayer of Quiet, is to quiet the mind of
unnecessary activity, so that the presence of God
can be more easily felt. The goal is to sit quietly
in the comfort and presence of God, focusing solely
on God.
This prayer prepares
us to eventually receive the gift of contemplation,
which is a more habitual awareness of God in
everyday life; where there is a more noticeable
presence of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in our
actions and thoughts. Here, we finally experience
God (and not ourselves) as the center of our
life. This is when we realize that all is in God,
and God is in all.
Visiting Statue of Mary
St. Ferdinand Parish has a beautiful statue
of Our Lady of Fatima given to us by Fr. Ken Oldenski, to
encourage devotion to Mary. The statue travels from home to
home, and everyone is invited to have this statue visit
their home. The family that currently has the statue will
arrange a time to bring the statue to your home. Please
prepare a place for the three foot statue. There is a brief
set of prayers which the families recite together in the new
home. The statue comes with some prayer books, pamphlets,
tapes, coloring books, and other devotional materials. There
are items for every age group that help to explain and
increase your devotion to Mary. Families receive many
blessings when this statue visits their home. To invite Mary
into your home, call the rectory at 724-776-2888.

Traveling Vocation Chalice
The
Traveling Chalice Program, to pray for vocations,
will be implemented at St. Ferdinand in a few weeks.
Families are asked to take the chalice home and
display it in a place of honor, where it can be
noticed by all during the week. The family will pray
around the chalice every night for vocations to the
priesthood and religious life. Prayers for vocations
will accompany the chalice. Please call the rectory
to register to schedule a week. |
