Joyful Remembrance
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross wrote, “Grief makes everything
look darker—for a time…There is no rush about
anything. Time is a human invention; in reality, it
does not exist.”
Some people need more time than others to recuperate
from the death of a loved one because our grief is
as unique as we are. Talking about our loss and
expressing our sadness, anxiety and yearning can
diminish our feelings of isolation and
loneliness. But we know that sometimes others become
uncomfortable when we talk about our loss.
The Upper Room is a place where you can speak the name
of your deceased loved one and tell the story of
your loss among others who are also
mourning. Talking about what happened can help us,
the bereaved, come to acceptance of the death and
our current situation. But for those who are not yet
ready to talk, listening also is beneficial.
Joyful Remembrance
is a bereavement peer support group that will meet
to reflect, share and listen on the second and third
Tuesdays of the month from 7:00 until 8:30 pm in the
Upper Room beginning September 9. To alleviate
regret over time lost with your beloved, meet with
us until you attain a Joyful Remembrance
of the time you had together. For more
information, contact Pauline at 412-585-0787.
