Pastoral Council leads the
parish community in the discernment and expression of
the parish and envisions the ways in which the parish
membership is being called by God to carry out that
mission. The mission of the diocese and the mission of
St. Ferdinand are shaped by the Church’s
two-thousand-year tradition and ultimately grounded in
the mission of Christ.
The role of Pastoral
Council is to maintain the integrity of St. Ferdinand’s
mission, goals and the objectives related to it. When
there is a clear awareness of a “larger vision” proposed
by the gospels and taught by the Church, St. Ferdinand
finds itself energized by a sense of mission and
directed to matters that will do more than simply fill
the calendar.
Pastoral Council serves in
an advisory capacity to Fr. Gallagher and assures him
that things get done. It has produced many successful
programs such as festivals, fundraisers, facility
maintenance, and a variety of social events.
