Cynthia A. Plazek (BA 1982, Duquesne University,
Pittsburgh PA) began her church music career as a
teen, and has consistently served the Diocese of
Pittsburgh as organist, music director, vocalist and
choir director at many parishes. Her goal is to make
the music program here at St. Ferdinand a ministry
that heals and gives glory to God. Her goal is to
develop the musical gifts in each volunteer God
sends her, and to train apprentice organists in a
practical, pastoral approach to music ministry.

Music
Ministry
“The faithful who gather together to
await the Lord’s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to
sing together psalms, hymns and inspired songs”
- Colossians 3:16 –
Liturgical song is the sign of the
heart’s joy, thus Saint Augustine
says rightly “To sing belongs to lovers.”
Music is at the heart of each and every celebration of
the mass, the scriptures call us to it.
New members are always welcomed to participate and aspect
of the parish’s diverse music ministry.
