Cynthia Plazek,  Music and Liturgical Minister

Mrs. Cynthia A. Plazek began her sacred music career as a teen, and has consistently served the Diocese of Pittsburgh as organist, music director, vocalist and choir director at many parishes. Cynthia received a B.A. (’82) from Duquesne University and continues to build on her degree through continuing education and certification. Her goal is to make the St. Ferdinand Music Ministry a program that heals and gives glory to God, as well as empowers volunteers to develop their own musical gifts. She personally selects all liturgical music for the parish and oversees a volunteer corps of approximately 100 musicians with a common goal: achieving excellence through rehearsal, proper instruction and prayer.

Music Ministry

“The faithful who gather together to await the Lord’s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together psalms, hymns and inspired songs”    -  Colossians 3:16 –

Liturgical song is the sign of the heart’s joy, thus Saint Augustine  says rightly “To sing belongs to lovers.”  Music is at the heart of each and every celebration of the mass, the scriptures call us to it.  New members are always welcomed to participate and aspect of the parish’s diverse music ministry.
